Pat (Patricia M Howard), who was in her mid 90s, died earlier this week.  Linda Fielding would like to give a special tribute to Pat. 

Little Pat, as she was affectionately known, was one of Wakefield District City of Sanctuary’s oldest volunteers and passed away in hospital, surrounded by her family.  

Pat was a long-term supporter of WDCoS and frequently visited the Quaker Meeting House drop-in before it was closed due to COVID. Prior to the pandemic Pat was also part of the volunteer team at the St Michael’s Thursday session.  

Since then, Helen Jones, who delivers the food from Sandal Methodists, has kept in touch with Pat.  Pat would frequently send books, colouring items, and English materials for distribution to sanctuary seekers.  

Pat was especially passionate about supporting mothers and children and, as a volunteer at the St Michael’s Thursday drop-in, spent many happy afternoons doing jigsaws with people.
