Dear All,  Currently two long-term destitute asylum seekers need accommodation.

One man is from Pakistan (42yrs) has been staying with friends but due to a change in their circumstances, they can no longer offer him space. The other is from Algeria (36yrs) and has recently lost his appeal for section 4 accommodation. Manual Bravo, a charity legal firm is dealing with both cases. Both would like to stay in the Wakefield area.

Through Wakefield District City of Sanctuary’s Asylum Seekers Support Fund, we are looking for long-term hosts who can offer a safe place to stay for several months or possibly longer.

Generally, host provide a bedroom, access to washing facilities and depending on the circumstances breakfast or an evening meal. The Asylum Seekers Support Fund can help with a weekly food parcel if needed and the Clothing Store can offer suitably clothed.

As destitute asylum seekers, they are not in the country illegally; the Home Office know they are here and both report on a fortnightly basis. However, neither can leave the country legally as they have no travel documents.

If anyone would like more information about hosting destitute asylum seekers, please contact Brian at [email protected] or ring Linda on 07800605397.

Thank you and all good wishes, Linda
