White Goods is an English description which usually means large kitchen appliances, and refers to Cookers, Fridges, Washing Machines and Dryers. They are called White Goods, because that is the main colour you will find, although you can sometimes find other colours!

Wakefield City of Sanctuary does not keep such items, as we do not have the storage space, nor the volunteer expertise needed to manage such items.

There are a number of charity shops that do, however. The nearest one to us is the St. Vincent de Paul shop at 76 Kirkgate. (01924 367809).

For used equipment, try the following outlet:

Wakefield Appliance Centre (Dewsbury Road)

Note : Wakefield Council may also be able to help if you are in need of essential appliances – check their welfare scheme here.

For new purchases, try the following:

Appliances Direct (Based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire)
Currys (You can browse their large store in Wakefield)
Argos (Goods are selected from in-store catalogues, or on-line)
