Workshop in Wakefield
End Indefinite Detention in Britain
Thursday 21st November
7pm – 9pm
Quaker Meeting House
Thornhill Street, WF1 1NQ
Under the Universal Declaration of Human Rights – Seeking Asylum is a human right (Article 14)
We are the only country in Europe which does not have a set period of time which asylum seekers and migrants can be held in detention centres.
Immigration detention is used by the government to imprison people who have not yet received the right to remain in this country, people whose rights have expired, and people who cannot prove their right to remain.
The aim of the evening is to learn how to campaign against detention of asylum seekers and migrants. There will be information from Right to Remain and other organization which are trying to peacefully bring an end to indefinite detention.
